9.5 - Verse
9.5.1 - Ode to the new way
On October 9th, 2007, my attention was drawn to an article that stated that a group of Spanish astrophysicists were advancing a theory that the Universe is about to flip from having three dimensions of space and one of time to having four dimensions of space. Finding the idea more than a little bemusing, the following detritus of my thought processes arrived almost unbidden:
Oh, I'm living in a tesseract,
a four dimensional box.
It's bigger on the inside,
that's why my four-space rocks!
When you get on the inside,
the outside becomes the in,
Dimensionally speaking,
it's all about the spin.
9.5.2 - On Words
I like to take some nouns,
and flog them quite past tense;
Verbs and adverbs raining down,
not always making sense.
Language is my little bitch,
all subbed out to my dom;
Say it, say it, filthy words,
squeak out that plume de nom.
Put ye on that fancy phrase,
now take it right back off;
Don't dare fail to self abase,
You know I'll get quite rough.
And in the end, when stories close,
And apologies are written;
I'll choose fine words of such pedigree,
you'll be purring like a kitten.
Language is as language does,
no matter what you think;
You'll understand just what I mean
when you've had some more to drink.
9.5.3 - Serendipity
Serendipity's a word
I came across by chance
Not actually browsing,
just an accidental glance
It's a good thing that I found it
for my vocabulary's weak
We're talking five new syllables
I'm lucky I can speak.
