Something to keep in mind is that specimens that are going to be put under a microscope are best when the entire rock is relatively flat, like a plate. There's not that much room under the microscope's objective lens because the lens has to be quite close to the specimen in order to focus. So when you're hammering and chiseling on a rock, working to extract something interesting, try to make thin slabs if you can. |
